- Kettering, Ohio — Today, representatives for the City of Kettering and Skilken/CASTO, the property owners, unveiled exciting plans and renderings for the redevelopment of Town and Country. New facade elements include individual brick storefronts of varying scale with large shop windows, signage enhancements and colored awnings, as well as pedestrian enhancements and new street-front retail opportunities. "Town & Country is at the center of the Kettering community and we believe this redevelopment will enhance its presence for years to come," said Frank R. Petruziello, vice president and principal at Skilken. "The new facade, coupled with enhanced landscaping and new street-front retail buildings will make the center more urban and pedestrian friendly, following national trends." Project owners and architect, Ford & Associates, will work to minimize the impact of the renovations on tenants and customers by building the new facade slightly north of the existing building. The renovations are scheduled to begin in April 2007 and will be completed in the fall of 2007. "We look forward to seeing exciting changes taking place at Town & Country," said Mark Schwieterman, Kettering City Manager. "So much positive activity takes place at Town & Country, they are a significant community partner and I'm sure the proposed changes will insure that the mall continues to be an epicenter of activity for many years to come." A new building at the entrance of the center will include 4,500 square feet of retail space that mirrors the design of the new Town & Country facade. A signature building site at the corner of Stroop and Shroyer roads will be available for single retail tenant use. The center also will be enhanced to be more pedestrian friendly with a new parking layout, enhanced landscaping and brick walkways.
