Casto Acquires Sancus Retail Center

Local Developer Adds Another Polaris-Area Center To Growing Portfolio
Columbus, Ohio — Casto, one of the country’s leading owners, developers and operators of community and neighborhood shopping centers, announced that it has completed the purchase of Sancus Retail Center, strategically located on Polaris Parkway near the north entrance of Polaris Fashion Place. The 19,113 square foot retail shopping center, built in 2002, was recently purchased from Sancus Retail Partners, LLC, based in Columbus, Ohio. The center is currently 100% leased and tenants include Cord Camera, Men’s Wearhouse, Pearle Vision, Chipotle, Casual Male and Birkenstock. According to partner Don M. Casto, III, "Sancus Retail Center enjoys excellent location, demographics and tenant mix. This acquisition fits well with our growth strategy and strengthens our retail presence in the thriving Polaris market of north Columbus.” The acquisition of Sancus Retail Center represents Casto’s third recent purchase in the Polaris area. Last month, Casto acquired Capella Center, located at the corner of Sancus Boulevard and Polaris Parkway, and in June 2004, Oak Creek Center, which is located west on Polaris Parkway, was added to Casto’s portfolio. The company is also currently developing Westar Village, the 150,000 square foot retail component of a new mixed-use project that will include retail, office, condominium and medical uses, which will be located at the northeast corner of Polaris Parkway and Cleveland Avenue. Casto, a fully integrated real estate organization since 1926, is a recognized leader in the ownership, management, acquisition and development of commercial shopping centers and multi-family residences, office buildings and corporate parks. Casto’s growing portfolio currently includes over 19 million square feet of commercial property and nearly 7,000 residential units located primarily throughout the midwestern United States and southwestern Florida.
